Managing Type 2 Diabetes in 2022

Naveed Sattar is a clinically active academic experienced in biomarker studies/trials investigating the causes, prevention and management of diabetes, obesity and heart disease. He has authored/co-authored >950 published papers (H-Index: 126 Web of Science; 156 Google Scholar, with >115,000 citations), and has received several national and international awards for his research, including two prestigious prizes from European Association for the Study of Diabetes: Camillo Golgi Prize (2020) and Minkowski Prize (2011); and Rank Nutrition Lecture (Diabetes UK, 2018). He is amongst the world’s most cited academics (top 1% of field) in Clinical Medicine as reported in Clarivate Analytics/Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher list 2014-2019.He has been on several national and international guideline committees, including: European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Task Force to develop 2019 Guidelines on diabetes, pre-diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases; Joint British Societies 3 CVD prevention recommendations; SIGN obesity and CVD prevention guidelines (as Chair); and European CVD prevention guidelines. He is currently involved in several lifestyle and drug trials in diabetes and CVD and leads on biomarker initiatives in other trials. He is on the editorial board for BMC Medicine and is an Associate Editor for Circulation, and has spoken at numerous national and international meetings.
