Professor Lars Rydén

Senior Professor of Cardiology, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

Lars Rydén is a Senior Professor of Cardiology at Karolinska Institutet. His research, which is in all essential parts clinical, includes cardiovascular prevention, arrhythmias, pacemaker therapy, heart failure and diabetes-related cardiovascular disease. In these areas he has published> 750 scientific papers.

Lars Rydén is an honorary doctor at Katowice University in Poland and an honorary member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK. He has been chairman of the Swedish Cardiologists 'Association, the European Cardiologists' Association and the Heart-Lung Foundation's Scientific Committee, as well as a board member of the World Heart Federation.

He is an honorary member of a number of European cardiologists' associations. Lars Rydén has received a number of awards most recently the 2019 Hellmut Mehnert Prize for "outstanding contributions to the knowledge and understanding of diabetes".
