Matthias Blüher, is director of the Helmholtz Institute for Metabolism, Obesity and Vascular Research (HI-MAG), an institute of the Helmholtz Center Munich in cooperation with the Medical Faculty of Leipzig University and head of the internal obesity outpatient clinic at Leipzig University Hospital.
Since 2013 he has been the spokesman for the Collaborative Research Center (SFB 1052): "Adiposity Mechanisms". As an endocrinologist and diabetologist, Matthias Blüher also works as a senior physician at the Leipzig University Hospital in the Clinic and Polyclinic for Endocrinology and Professor for Clinical Obesity Research at the University of Leipzig. His main research interests are in the investigation of obesity, insulin resistance, and energy metabolism mechanisms.
