Family Physician at La Mina Primary Care Academic Centre ( University of Barcelona)( 1990-present). Tutor of the Family Medicine teaching programme and Trainer of family physicians at the Barcelona Family Medicine Teaching Unit since 1991.
He is the Spanish Representative at the European Society for Primary Care Gastroenterology (ESPCG), since 1996 and current President of ESPCG https://www.espcg.eu. He is also the Secretary of the WONCA Working Party on Mental Health (WWPMH) and Board member of the Social Prescribing and Community Orientation Special Interest Group of Wonca Europe. He was vice president of Wonca Europe Executive ( 1998-2001). Dr.Mendive’s main areas of interest are gastrointestinal problems on primary care (mainly NAFLD - SLD with new nomenclature -, reflux problems and funcional disorders) as well as Mental Health problems, (mainly emotional disorders from prevention to management). In relation to the NAFLD-SLD activities, he is currently participating at the ongoing international project: Developing, implementing and evaluating a clinical pathway for NASH/NAFLD patients in primary care: a multicenter study, coordinated from University of Crete. http://www.nash.med.uoc.gr/. As a first outcome from this project , a publication on the educational programme developed for general practitioners has just been released DOI: 10.3389/fmed.2023.1034626. Also in relation to NAFLD-SLD, he is being actively participating on different major initiatives: the EASL Lancet Liver Commission, DOI: 10.1016/s0140-6736(21)01701-3 , the Patient Guideline for NAFLD, PMC8514420 and the European Guideline on Obesity in patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases DOI: 10.1016/s0140-6736(21)01701-3. As a major involvement also it is important to emphasize his participation at the Healthy Livers, Healthy Lives initiative that has recently published a Global Research Priority Agenda to advance public health responses to fatty liver disease DOI: 10.1016/j.jhep.2023.04.035.
